Hey Linda, as you stand outside reporting about some late nite accident, I bet you wish you had worn a few more short skirts on HLN -- maybe, just maybe, you would have developed a little bit of a following. Too much sitting at CNN was starting to inflame her perennial hemorrhoid problems despite always using that small inner tube like medical aid on her studio chairs.
Because some of the dumbasses here aren't aware of it, here's the straight story: CNN laid off MANY people from mid-November to mid-December. Even got rid of an entire division (Science & Tech). And most of the ones who got canned were longtimers like Linda---male and female both. Budget slashing, same as the jackass management at the Weather Channel's been doing lately. It's the economy, stupid! Don't have to believe me- look it up.
And about Linda not having a following -you're insane. I know every time I was in a public place, and she was on TV, I saw guys practically mesmerized by her. And that was just from the shoulders up!!

Believe it or not, the classy way she dressed was what mesmerized a lot of people.
As for doing local news - yeah, it's not glamorous. But it's not all police shit either. I live in Atlanta and I've seen several of her reports and it's the typical variety. She's doing a great job with what she has and will probably move back into an anchor position eventually. Sure it'll be at a metro news outfit and not national, but you play the cards your dealt.
I've got more respect for the reporters than the anchors (unless the anchors worked their way from the botom; alot of them haven't though, most are spoiled brats that should've never got the job). Reporters are out there doing all the work, if it wasn't for the reporters the anchors would not have anything to report on and their job would be pointless.
Precisely. A lot of the anchors are hardly what you'd call journalists. Linda was a reporter years ago (her 1st assignment was the Waco debacle when she worked in Texas), worked her into the anchor spot at HLN, and then through whatever internal politics along with CNN mismanagment, was set aside until they needed antoher high salary to cut. Now she's doing what a lot of those talkig heads can't do - actual news gathering and reporting.
And I'm sure all of the neanderthals ragging her on this thread have never lost a job and are doing their dream jobs and making $1Mill a year.
Whatever. The point is that some got to stay and some had to go. Linda Stouffer and School Marm clothes and attitude did not make the cut -- she got voted off. All we are saying is that she works in a visual medium. She is not a print reporter. Therefore, she should have been smarter and less stiff. Her outfits not only were not hot, they were affirmatively lame. She dressed like one of those wives from the Texas Polygamist compound for crying out loud! I liked her and wished she would have been more willing to play ball. But, hey, i am sure she is more happy covering car wash fires and 7-11 robberies....

Although I think "lame" and "dressed like the Waco wierdos" is a little overstating it - it was business dress as opposed to "showing it".
I doubt it mattered anyway. She used to be the afternoon anchor and you never saw anything but the bust up anyway. The demoted her when they changed formats. I would bet that she's not as liberal as CNN likes and she was slowly being edged out. That's just a guess, but something else was going on in CNN that we're not privy too. But it wasn't simply because she didn't wear short skirts.
She should have volunteered to do the Morning Express stark naked. HLN ratings would have hit the roof and she'd still have a job. It would be a win-win.
Since I don't live in Atlanta I'll miss Linda on CNN. She has class and the greatest smile on earth! She gave warmth and charm to the news.
She's a beautiful woman, but that doesn't necessarily translate to being a sexy woman. Agree with some that her sex appeal to most was minimal....it's a visual medium. More so now than ever.
True - sexy and beautiful aren't always the same thing. But I always thought she was both - JMO. I miss viewing her in that visual medium. CNN should have kept her - but they aren't high on my list anyway.
Saw this old thread - don't know if anybody will see this - but here is an update on Ms Stouffer. She still does field reporting but is also weekend anchor and fill-in on week days. It's not national, but hey - HLN wasn't that much bigger than the Atlanta audience anyway. WSB is the leading TV news in the Atlanta area and she's doing well with them.
I'm not sure what all the animosity on this thread was about but I'm sure those who voiced it will be sorry to know it seems like a better job to me than she had with the losers at CNN (who continue to lose ratings a year later).
She's a classy lady and she's still a babe. Atlanta likes her and we're glad she's here.
